Qualifications and Experience
I am a fully qualified and registered Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with a Masters Degree in Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy. My Doctoral (D Psych Prof) research at the Metanoia Institute & Middlesex University focuses on parent-child psychotherapy. Please click here if you would like to read more about my research.
My clinical experience includes work with children, adolescents, families, individuals and couples in primary care (GP surgeries); NHS, including CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services); NHS adult and young adult in-patient secure units; state and private schools and in private practice. My special interests are working with intergenerational trauma, parent-child psychotherapy, twins, psychosomatic medicine and complex cases. I also have a special interest in working with creative arts, in particular music and painting.
My CPD (continued professional development) training includes forensic psychotherapy (working with patients who have been involved in criminal acts - Portman Clinic); couples work (Tavistock Centre); Family and Systemic work (Tavistock, NHS) and CBT (Oxford and Bucks NHS Foundation Trust).
I am a visiting lecturer at Newman University, Birmingham for the MSc professional training for psychotherapists (both child and adult), and I am a clinical supervisor for trainees and fully qualified psychotherapists working in my specialist areas.
I am also the founder of the Parent Child Clinic, where we are currently working towards charity registration to provide psychotherapy for parents and children, along with research opportunities and training.
I am registered with UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy), accredited by BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and a Senior Associate of the Royal Society of Medicine. I have full professional civil liability insurance cover (sometimes known as P.I. or Professional Indemnity insurance) and have an up to date enhanced DBS (Disclosures and Barring Service) police certificate, which means that I have been checked and cleared for working with children and vulnerable people.
